Westbury is the right place for Limousine Company
By Frank Rizzo
Originally printed in The Westbury Times thewestburytimes.com

Despite the emergence of app based driving services such as Lyft and Uber, there is still a sizable market for limousine companies. Limos Long Island, located at 838 Old Country Rd. in Westbury, is owned by three people who have decades of Experience in the business: Dayna Molinelli of West Babylon, Joseph Lavin of Patchogue and Charles Sykora of Baldwin.

What separates her firm from the gig services, according to Molinelli, is that with those vehicles “you don’t know the what driver you are getting. All of our drivers are employees, not independent contractors, so we are able to keep a better grasp on who’s driving our customers and provide a better service for them.”

Wedding receptions, tours, special occasions and airport service are all part of the companies offerings.
Molinelli listed the vehicles in the fleet, most late models, and the firm added 14-passenger and 8-passenger vans.

Limos Long Island has been in Westbury since July 2018 and when Molinelli was asked how the firm had been received, she replied, “Very well. People seem to like us. I have a very good staff. Our reservation agents have been with us from the beginning and a lot of them worked with me at a prior company. They are very good to our customers, and a lot of our customers know them like family.”

As for moving to Westbury, Lavin pointed out that, “It’s centrally located to everything. Courts, schools, Parkways.”

Limos Long Island has a unique on-time guarantee, a challenge given Long Island traffic and the frequently jammed major airports.

“It works for the most part,” Lavin said. “You put pressure on yourself and everybody around you to make sure that you fulfill the guarantee.”

The customer base varies, with church groups and vineyard tourists, As well as corporate accounts. The multi-passenger transit vans that Limos Long Island owns have safety harnesses. Only one stretch limousine remains. Lavin said the state has tightened the rules on those, especially after the deadly upstate accident in 2018 that killed 20 people. Stretch limos are not as popular as they used to be, Lavin observed, and Ford stopped making the town cars that were once ubiquitous. Lavin said that Limos Long Island was about to pick up a new car, a Cadillac XTS.

“It’s a regular sedan, but people like it,” Lavin said. Molinelli said that being on a busy thoroughfare like old country Road has led to walk in business.
“We’ve seen growth where we would not have thought we would see it.”

2020 Rate Increases

January 9, 2020 by limoslongisland Leave a Comment

Happy New Year to All!

We hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your family and friends and wish you much happiness in the new year.

Dedicated to Serving You

Limos Long Island is committed to offering you the quality you expect and deserve. We have found a way to minimize any price increases while still achieving the high level of service you deserve.

Unfortunately, due to multiple factors, including the rising cost of industry-wide insurance rates, the recent minimum wage increase, and having to acquire 3rd party EPLI insurance due to Uber sexual harassment claims, we have been forced to slightly increase our rates for the first time in over a year.

These increases allow us to continue to provide you with safe, maintained vehicles, and keep our drivers in-house as opposed to using sub-contracted drivers. To learn more about the specifics of our rate increases, please visit our website here.

The Specifics

This letter serves to advise you that there will be an increase of $10 to our flat SUV flat rates, and a $5-$10 increase on Suffolk zones.

Hourly rates for all vehicles will be increased by $4.

During times of inclement weather there will be a $50 surcharge for sedans and $75 for SUV’s for all point to point services.

Our additional stop rates will slightly increase depending on the location of the stop. This is necessary to cover driver costs for waiting, slower travel, and additional traffic, which helps us to ensure your safety.

Honoring Current Rates thru January 15, 2020

It is important to note that ALL reservations made before 1/15/2020 will be honored with the current price, so we highly encourage you to order soon to take advantage of this.

Limos Long Island greatly appreciates your continued business and support through this time of growth and change. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this price increase, please do not hesitate to reach out. Our team is more than happy to discuss this situation with you on an individual basis.

Sincerely,

Dayna Molinelli, Owner x109
Joseph Lavin, Owner x103
Bud Sykora, Owner x110
